Founded in 1983 by Curt Schmitt, The Canterbury Singers is a regional chorus specializing in English music. The group of mostly amateur singers is by audition only and consists of high school students and adults. Directed from 1994 to 2006 by the late J. Mark Beaty, The Canterbury Singers became an independent, non-parish ensemble in 2002 in order to focus on concert performance. Annual events such as A Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols, and the new Spring Gala tradition have established a loyal following and capacity crowds. We rehearse Sunday afternoons from 2 to 4pm at St. Luke's Church.
